Movie Ideas and Clips for Possible Selves

Lesson 1 includes using a movie to discuss a character who has overcome a life challenge and has positive future aspirations. Below are movie ideas that have been suggested by other teachers. Sometimes, school administrators have policies that do not allow a teacher to show an entire movie in class, so you may also want to consider showing several brief You Tube clips of key moments in the movies when characters have turning point experiences.

Movie Ideas for the Film Study Portion of the Lesson:

Soul Surfer
Under the Same Moon
Rudy
October Sky
Field of Dreams
Annie O
Tangled
Pursuit of Happiness
King Richard
Hidden Figures
Knights Tale
Stand and Deliver
Mr. Holland's Opus
Mona Lisa Smile
Billy Madison
Second Hand Lions
